HoW New Construction AV Build-out

Location

Project type

HoW New Construction AV

We begin working with this client early in the construction phase of their church build. We developed a tailored solution to provide in-house and live stream video, audio, lighting, and control with a small dedicated network. The video solution provides four color-sensitive PTZ cameras throughout the sanctuary to capture almost any angle, to include a reverse angle toward the audience. Independent video routing for in-house and live stream stations through Blackmagic ATEM desktop consoles provides superior flexibility for each workflow. A COTS PC licensed for ProPresenter is the focal point for in-house presentation to two ninety-eight-inch wall-mounted displays at the front of the sanctuary with two portable floor stand confidence displays that can tether to outputs in custom in-floor I/O boxes. Future planning included integrating HDMI and VGA over HDBT input wall plates, one in the stage floor tucked into a custom floor box and another in the tech booth area for additional system video inputs. The audio system in this build features the Bose Professional MA12EX dual-stack columnar line arrays tucked into either side of the stage for a sophisticated color-sensitive integration and two MB-120 subwoofers mounted to the oder-edge of the rafters to keep from imposing upon the ornate interior of the space. Working through specific aesthetic guidelines, we worked meticulously to deliver a powerful reproduction solution without an imposing footprint. The in-floor stage boxes also offer Speakon outputs for stage monitor speakers that can be put in place or removed based on the use case of the stage. Other capabilities of these floor boxes include Ultranet, network, DMX, XLR input, and XLR output as arranged according to client use cases. The balcony has dedicated reproduction from a Bose AMU-series speaker mounted high in the rafters to conceal its footprint and the hallway between the sanctuary and classrooms has overflow coverage from in-ceiling Bose DS40-series speakers. Each zone of this system can be independently controlled thanks to the digital audio mixer. A unique aspect of this build is the live stream station. It is located in a dedicated operator room adjacent to the sanctuary. This separation required special distribution of video and audio signals from the sanctuary. Using AES50 over a shielded CAT6 we were able to fully duplicate the inputs received by the primary in-house digital mixer untouched to an X32C console in the live stream workstation. The video signals were duplicated through the use of a Blackmagic Design 16x16 SDI matrix received by a second Blackmagic ATEM desktop switcher in the live stream workstation. Dual camera controls consoles were elected to ensure operators in the sanctuary and the live station could control the four cameras. The sanctuary system is powered by Furman conditioning and sequencing controlled by a single trigger point operated by a key in the tech booth. The systems are programmed to sequence on and off in a strategic manner ensuing clean startup and shutdown. The dedicated network for this solution lives as a part of but outside the primary network to provide audio control, system control, and network management/monitoring specific to the AV system. Review the photos for insight into what other technologies were incorporated into this design.
